Part 3: When Advocacy Became a Power Struggle

In 1903 London, Emmeline Pankhurst decided that politeness and endless discussions were over. She founded the WSPU with a motto destined to stamp modern activism: “Deeds, not words.” After decades of political promises leading nowhere, women in Britain had every reason to be furious. Their patience was exhausted, and their indignation was entirely justified.
​But with this motto, the movement entered a completely new phase. It was no longer a claim for justice. It became a power struggle.
​Pankhurst’s suffragettes did not limit themselves to peaceful marches. Within a few years, they radicalized: smashing shop windows, setting empty buildings on fire, placing explosives in infrastructure, and clashing with the police. Between 1912 and 1914, Britain witnessed an organized campaign of arson and bombings that the era itself called, bluntly, terrorism. To defeat the state, they decided to use its own weapons: pressure, coercion, and force.
​Here lies the next major shift. At Seneca Falls, we saw dignity transformed into a state document. In Britain during these years, we see something else: the idea that what is right is not vindicated because it is true, but because it has the power to enforce itself.
​But when you view human relationships strictly as a war of power, something changes irrevocably. Society ceases to be a space of shared life and turns into a permanent arena, where one must subjugate the other to survive.
​It didn’t take a century for this logic to reach us—it only required a shift in the battlefield. The woke agenda did not suddenly appear in universities. It inherited, as is, the idea that if you fight for the “absolute good,” any means of enforcement is permitted—whether that was a bomb in a building in 1913 or social cancellation and public shaming today. It inherited something even deeper: the idea that society is strictly divided into perpetrators and victims, oppressors and the oppressed, leaving no room for dialogue or common sense. There is only the dominance of one group over another.
​When politics and social relationships become nothing more than acts of power, the very capacity to understand each other as human beings is lost. If everything is a matter of strength, then marriage, family, and community cease to be sanctuaries of love and become minor warfronts.
​The women of 1903 simply wanted their vote, and they were right to demand it. But by accepting enforcement as the only way to be heard, they left behind a heavy legacy. Today, woke culture no longer seeks equal rights; it uses the exact same aggressive logic to impose new identities and silence every dissenting voice.
​True justice, however, is not born from the might of the strongest. It is born where people can still look each other in the eye and recognize one another's value, without needing to hold weapons—whether political or real.
